One rainy Friday in June, Leo and I and some of our friends drove slightly up north for a cottage weekend. We ate and cooked and drank and played board games, visited the local (and only) convenience store nearby for Kawartha ice-cream and sugar tarts, and had a dip in the still very cold Kahshe Lake. The cottage that we rented was absolutely beautiful; the slopped roof, the wooden panels and the balcony…be still my heart.

By the way, this was my first time at a Canadian cottage! Having spent my childhood near the white beaches of a tropical island (Mauritius, east coast of Madagascar), the idea of swimming in yellow-tinted water took a bit of getting used to, but now I can’t wait to go back again. Being near water has the ultimate relaxing effect.
